6 reasons why you need a domain name
Lastweek i recieve a mail from a newbie blogger inviting me to write a guest post on his blog
I was happy he invited me but i cant help but to turn down the request because of his domain name (which i won't disclose for security reasons), Yes he had a blog but hes still using the .blogspot.com subdomain (a great turn off)
This incident brought the idea of today's post, which I'll highlight how using a subdomain name like something.blogspot.com or something.WordPress.com will kill you blog revenues and this could make you quit the beautiful blogging world
blog visitors would think you're unserious
When new visitors come to your blog, they might like your content if they are genuine
But when they see your blog url, they conclude you're not serious about blogging and that's why you can't afford 4$ to buy domain name
You're always a newbie with your subdomain
Yes its true, no matter how long you've been blogging but with a subdomain ...you're still a newbie
You're tag has a newbie not only by your blog visitors but by search engines too (limiting the URL they crawl on your blog)
Rejection from most advertising company
You might want to make some money on your blog using ad company
sorry your publisher registration with us is rejected,we need to give our advertiser the best.....bla bla bla
This is the kind of rejection message you will receive from ad company whenever you try to register with them
They will tell you that your blog is not competent due to your blog using a subdomain name
Think about adSense
Its true, you can be accepted by AdSense with your subdomain BUT this only happens to 1 blog out of 10,000 blogs
To be accepted by the highest paying ad company (AdSense) one thing you have to fulfill is having a custom domain
No direct advertiser
If you are still using your subdomain, nobody would Like to advertise on your blog,or who would like to have his job given to a newbie?
Low or no sales
Ok, you dont want any ad company to boost your blog income so you decided to be selling your own product on your blog like ebooks or any other products
With your subdomain name, be 80% sure that you will have low or no sales on what you're selling online
Reason: to buy something online is just not easy unless they see the seller has a trustworthy person or organization with something to lose if anything goes wrong
People would think you're a scam and what you're selling isn't real because you have nothing to lose if they are eventually scammed
Now The solution
The only solution to this is for you to get a custom domain which will be something like yoururl.com
For registering domain's and hosting i trust domainking.ng
This is the domain registrar i personally use and i use for my clients
